The last century was one of the most revolutionary periods in the fashion world. Wedding dresses of the era varied from decade to decade and always reflected the brightest fashion trends of each period. We remembered the turn of the past century as the beginning of a real revolution in women’s dress: corsets were no longer the main and essential items of clothing. The roaring 20s were famous for a lighter and low waistline and short dresses; open knees were no longer considered taboo. In the 30s, Hollywood began to set the fashion, the photos of different actresses and their dresses appeared in the newspapers, and the streets were filled with spectators who came to see the celebration and the bridal outfit. That gave an even greater impetus to the development of extravagant wedding fashion. The war period undoubtedly reflected on the style of that time: the fashion of the 40s became modest and balanced, women often sewed dresses themselves from affordable fabrics. The triumphant return of feminine style in the 50s was gradually replaced by the futuristic minimalism of the next decade. The famous wedding gowns of Grace Kelly, Jacqueline Kennedy, Yoko Ono and Audrey Hepburn perfectly reflected the variety of styles of those years. One of the brightest dresses of the 80s was Princess Diana’s magnificent bridal array. That style existed in the wedding fashion for a long time, but it again gave way to minimalism by the end of the century.
